Have a serger sitting at home that you’re afraid to thread? Or are you thinking about adding one to your sewing room but don’t know where to start? Serger 101 is your hands-on introduction to the machine that can take your garment sewing to the next level. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how a serger works, how to confidently thread and operate it, and how to use it to create clean, professional-looking finishes. In this class, you’ll learn: 🧵 Get to Know Your Machine Learn the basic parts of a serger, what each component does, and how a serger differs from a conventional sewing machine. 🪡 Threading Your Serger Learn the correct threading order and techniques for threading your machine without the frustration. ✂️ Understanding the Stitches Explore common serger stitches and learn when to use a 3-thread, 4-thread, or other stitch configuration. ⚙️ Machine Settings Learn how to adjust stitch length, differential feed, tension, and other settings to get the results you want. 👗 Sewing & Finishing Practice sewing seams, finishing raw edges, and creating professional-looking garment finishes. 🔧 Troubleshooting Basics Learn how to identify and troubleshoot common issues like broken threads, skipped stitches, tension problems, and uneven stitches. By the end of class, you’ll have the confidence to thread your serger, understand its settings, and start using it as a valuable tool in your sewing room. Perfect for: Beginners, new serger owners, or anyone who has a serger but hasn't quite figured out how to use it. No prior serger experience required. Basic sewing machine knowledge is recommended. Bring your serger if you'd like to learn on your own machine, or practice on one of ours!

Class Booking & Rescheduling Policy We’re excited to sew with you! Please review our class policy before booking. Booking: Class registration must be completed at least 24 hours before the scheduled class start time. This allows us time to prepare materials, equipment, and your space. Cancellations & Rescheduling: Need to change your plans? No problem! You may cancel or reschedule your class up to 24 hours before the scheduled class start time. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before class, including same-day requests and no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, credit, or transfer to another class. Late Arrivals: Please arrive on time so you can get the most out of your sewing experience. Classes will begin as scheduled, and late arrivals may not be able to make up missed instruction or class time. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our classes running smoothly.
