Always wanted to learn how to sew but don't know where to start? Sewing 101 is the perfect place to begin. In this beginner-friendly, hands-on class, you'll learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine and gain the confidence to start creating your own projects. No sewing experience is required—we'll take it one stitch at a time. In this class, you'll learn: 🧵 Get to Know Your Sewing Machine Learn the basic parts of a sewing machine, what they do, and how to properly set up your machine for sewing. 🪡 Threading & Bobbins Learn how to thread your machine, wind and insert a bobbin, and understand the basics of troubleshooting. ⚙️ Machine Settings Learn about stitch length, tension, presser feet, and the basic settings you'll use every time you sew. 📏 Sew a Straight Line Build your confidence with the most important sewing skill: controlling your fabric and sewing a clean, consistent straight line. 🧵 Learn to Sew Seams Learn what a seam is, how to sew two pieces of fabric together, how to maintain a consistent seam allowance, and how to properly start and finish your seams. ✂️ Sewing Basics Practice controlling your fabric, backstitching, turning corners, and working with different seam allowances. 🔧 Troubleshooting Learn what to do when your thread breaks, your needle jams, your stitches look uneven, or your machine isn't behaving the way you expect. Your goal for Sewing 101: By the end of class, you will be able to confidently operate a sewing machine, sew a straight line, and construct a basic seam by joining two pieces of fabric together. You'll leave with the foundation you need to continue practicing at home and move on to Sewing 102: Build Your Sewing Skills. Perfect for: Complete beginners, aspiring sewists, or anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of sewing. No prior sewing experience required. -It is preferred that you bring your own sewing machine, so you feel comfortable using it at home, but if you do not have one you will be able to use a shop machine. Class Booking & Rescheduling Policy We’re excited to sew with you! Please review our class policy before booking. Booking: Class registration must be completed at least 24 hours before the scheduled class start time. This allows us time to prepare materials, equipment, and your space. Cancellations & Rescheduling: Need to change your plans? No problem! You may cancel or reschedule your class up to 24 hours before the scheduled class start time. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before class, including same-day requests and no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, credit, or transfer to another class. Late Arrivals: Please arrive on time so you can get the most out of your sewing experience. Classes will begin as scheduled, and late arrivals may not be able to make up missed instruction or class time. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our classes running smoothly.
