Service Description
Sewing 4: How to Read Sewing Patterns Ever opened a sewing pattern and thought, “Where do I even start?” This class is designed to take the mystery out of commercial sewing patterns and give you the confidence to understand what you’re looking at. We’ll break down a pattern from the envelope to the instruction sheet and learn how all those lines, symbols, numbers, and markings work together. In this class, you’ll learn: How to choose the right pattern and size How to read a pattern envelope How to use a size chart and finished garment measurements How to understand yardage and fabric requirements How to identify pattern pieces and their purpose How to read grainlines, notches, fold lines, and other markings How to understand seam allowances and pattern terminology How to read and follow pattern instructions How to select a pattern that matches your skill level By the end of class, you’ll be able to confidently pick up a commercial sewing pattern and understand what it’s asking you to do and where to begin. Prerequisite: Basic sewing machine knowledge recommended or Sewing 101 and Sewing 102 -Bring your own pattern!

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before class, including same-day requests and no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, credit, or transfer to another class. Late Arrivals: Please arrive on time so you can get the most out of your sewing experience.
